While his side wasn't able to topple Rugby or the Newtown Demons from the top two competitions spots before play was unceremoniously halted for an early mid-season break, the third-placed Kelly Cup team can likely count on the top-scoring batsman to continue to fire for them when play resumes on Saturday, January 11.

Byrne currently sits atop the batting averages scoreboard with a total of 358 runs, 53 runs clear of second played Rugby's James Rootes.
That total's been boosted for Byrne by his early season century against Newtown Gold and top form in his last few appearances that's seen him pass 80 runs twice in back to back matches.
With that total and with only six matches to his Kelly Cup campaign this season, Byrne also stands out in the batting average, scoring an average of 90 runs for every time he's been dismissed.
Macquarie's Brad Roberts rounds out the top three, edging over to 303 runs across his eight innings.
In the bowling stakes, Newtown Black's Andrew Gardiner has had the best run of the first nine rounds, toppling 20 batsmen across his 61 overs and peaking with a 5/30 innings against the RSL Colts Coolbaggie side.
Cody Green's respectable 16 wicket haul for Macquarie has seen him finish the first leg of the season in the second spot with his best innings a 5/32 showing, while South Dubbo's Joe Crampton and Andrew Cusack sit third and fourth with 15 wickets each.
