Northern Tasmania tourism industry standouts have been awarded at a “people-powered” event on Thursday night. The Champions of Tourism awards were held for a sixth time this year, with winners picked from a pool over 300 nominees in seven categories. Nine key figures were recognised across categories including Standout Food Ambassador, Social Media Hero, First-Class Volunteer, Service Wizard, Most Dynamic Newbie, Event Organiser Extraordinaire and Trailblazing Innovator. Brock Kerslake took out both the Standout Food Ambassador and Personality of the Year awards for his work with taste.walk.talk, a Launceston-based gourmet walking tour. Tourism Northern Tasmania chief executive Chris Griffin said the awards were a chance to appreciate the work done within the industry that may often go unnoticed. “It’s an annual awards program for recognising people in our tourism industry that create great experiences for others to enjoy,” Mr Griffin added. “We had some outstanding champions.” Further winners: While you're with us, you can now sign up to receive breaking news updates and daily headlines direct to your inbox. Sign up here.
