The awards recognise members of the community who have helped the region in a number of ways, from sports to the arts to volunteering.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the significant contribution of our hardworking residents who have done so much for the advancement of the Dubbo region," mayor Ben Shields said.

The awards will be presented at the Australia Day celebrations in Victoria Park on Sunday, January 26. There will be a barbecue breakfast served from 7.30am before the official ceremony starts at 8am.
In Wellington, there will be a free breakfast in Cameron Park from 9am before the ceremony starts at 10.30am.
In Dubbo the Australia Day award categories are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Young Sportsperson of the Year
- Services to Sports Award
- Cultural Person of the Year
In Wellington the categories are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Community Service/Achievement Award
Nominations for the 2020 Australia Day awards close at 5pm on Monday, January 6. The nominations can be made through the Dubbo Regional Council website.
The winners in each category are chosen by the Australia Day awards committee.
