Spokesperson Brian Bruce said that the change in branding reflects the organisation's wider suite of responsibilities.
"Blood is at the core of what we do, but we are now so much more than blood," Mr Bruce said.
"The name Lifeblood reflects the role we play in the Australian community, now and into the future, while also celebrating our selfless donors."
"Apart from Blood products we now provide safe, donated breastmilk to premature babies, critical organ matching services and our world renowned research and development."
Mr Bruce said that the organisation will still be reliant on regional donors to help ensure stable blood supplies.
Donor Chris Horan, who has been travelling from Gilgandra to the Dubbo donor centre for the last 34 years, says the service has modernised significantly over the years.
"It's a much better experience now, the facilities are more modern and you can give plasma as well as whole blood."
"Please give while you can, you never know when you may need a blood product yourself."
