A child trying to grow in the world with an undetected hearing issue is like a house built upon a broken foundation- at least that's what Virginia Redenbach would tell you.

Ms Redenbach is part of the Hear our Hearts team, a Dubbo based non-for-profit organisation run by volunteers.
The organisation was the initiative of two local residents, Hear our Hearts Directors Donna Rees and Rachel Mills, they aim to teach ear health and awareness as well as to provide Audiologist visits to Dubbo to diagnose children's hearing problems.
Audiologist Jean Tmebis and four final year audiology students attended Orana Heights Primary School on Tuesday where they ran free hearing tests.
"A hearing problem can affect a child's ability to learn, and later in life, if the problem goes undetected child often will start acting out," Ms Tmebis said.
"Hearing issues are more common in males, and more so within Indigenous communities."
Ms Redenbach said the organisation is at its full capacity and they would love to see a permanent audiologist based in Dubbo in the future. Hearing problems such as Glue ear can occur from Hay Fever, Sinus, ear infections and head colds, and can affect a child's ability to speak correctly and read.
