Director Andrew McDonald also reports of six inspections since the seven-hectare property was put on the market by receivers, Chamberlains SBR, about three weeks ago.
“The inquiry level has been more than we anticipated which is very encouraging,” he said on Thursday. “Whether that transpires into people bidding sufficiently to achieve a result on auction day remains to be seen.”
Mr McDonald said some of the inquiries could have been motivated by curiosity but “we certainly have had people wanting to inspect it, requesting additional information and doing further due diligence on it”.
About three quarters of the inquiries and inspections had involved “locals”, the agent said, with others coming from “as far afield as Sydney and Brisbane” and driven by advertising in metropolitan and national publications.
Mr McDonald, who is marketing the property with colleague Rob Reardon, is confident that Rhino Lodge will be resurrected. “It’s too good not to,” he said. “It’s very impressive what has been constructed to date.
“But I’m sure it is going to take at least a couple of years to get up and running at full capacity, just like any other business. Someone needs to come in and be sufficiently resourced to financially get through the establishment period.”
Maintenance, including cleaning and watering of gardens and lawns, has been undertaken in the lead-up to the May 24 auction from 11am at Quest Dubbo’s conference room.
