Chamberlains SBR have been appointed as the receivers over the land and buildings situated at the Camp Road site.
Chamberlains SBR’s Graeme Brown said the land and building have been locked, with no further activity proceeding.
“The owners of the business Rhino Lodge no longer have access to the premises,” Mr Brown said.
“A receiver gets the assets in and sells them and that’s what will happen here. We’ve locked and stopped it, we’ll have appraisals done and look to sell the property.
“Those people who have functions booked, or have paid deposits, should look to the owners of that business for recovery.”
Mr Brown urged people to “seek alternative arrangements for their function”, noting that other local venues had already offered their support.
“Taronga Western Plains Zoo is genuinely concerned about the impact on couples with booked weddings,” the zoo’s director Steve Hinks said. “We understand how big a moment a wedding day is, and how much time and planning is involved. We want to make sure that people know we are here and we are genuinely happy to help do what we can for those impacted.”
Other businesses took to social media to share their concern.
“The Dubbo Golf Club wishes to extend its assistance in any form to the Brides & Grooms affected by the closure,” one post read. “This is a considerable loss for Dubbo and our thoughts are with those affected. In times of hardship it is paramount that businesses work together to assist those in need.”
A post by Two Doors said a collaboration with the Golf Club had already ensured “two brides are smiling”.
“We are both shocked and saddened by the news of Rhino Lodge, and would like to offer our services to those affected by the closure,” it added.
“We all want to pull together and help anyone affected,” The Grazier’s Table wrote. “We are hoping over the coming weeks more information will come to light.”
When asked whether the business was likely to reopen, Mr Brown said “not at this stage”.
