Homes and businesses at Coonamble experienced a short unplanned power outage about lunchtime on Monday.
Essential Energy crews were alerted to a koala at the top of a power pole on the corner of King and Dubbo Streets in Coonamble.
To ensure the safety of the koala, the public and the electricity network, power was switched off to 1148 customers about 1.45pm, an Essential Energy spokeswoman said.
Essential Energy crews then used a pole from the local vet to safely remove the koala into the bucket of the Essential Energy truck.
The koala was to be returned to the wild with the assistance of the vet.
Power was restored to all customers about 2.35pm.
