Farrell took over as CEO of the bowling club just weeks before COVID-19 enforced the venue to close.
However, Farrell admitted he had been enjoying the role.
"Two weeks into it we shut the doors so that wasn't very good," he said.
"Apart from that it's all been good so far."
In exciting news for bowls fans, Club Dubbo will be allowed to re-open next week with social bowls set to resume on Wednesday before competitions can begin several weeks later.
"Our social bowls are allowed to run from next week," Farrell said.
"As for things like tournaments and that, they kick in around the 80 per cent mark.
"So we can run larger scale events once that happens."

Like many sporting competitions around the region, Club Dubbo's International Fours tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19.
But Farrell knows the $100,000 tournament which was set to be the richest of it's kind in the world will be back next year after a lot of interest from bowlers.
"We definitely don't want to cancel it, we want to postpone it," he said.
"Every spot was filled and we had teams on reserve all paid up with their entry fee.
"The interest was definitely there. We had good support from local businesses to help run the event.
"It's a good event for Dubbo.
"It brings some of the best bowlers in the world to a regional area and people can come watch and mingle with them.
"That's the good thing about bowls, you can get out there and say g'day to them.
"You are not sitting behind a grandstand waiting to talk to them.
"But we will definitely run that next year."
Farrell knows the competition is likely to fill up quickly next year after entries were full for this year's tournament.
"Even to the extend we've gone through and refunded the entry fees but a good number of the teams said 'just keep it for next year'.
"Obviously, we gave it back but the fact they are keen to give it back for next year is exciting for us."
The tournament was set to be held at the end of this month but Farrell expects the competition will run during the same time next year.
