Dubbo Regional Council is paying $1.32 million for a property which gives it the "opportunity to practically complete the civic administration precinct".

The building, next to Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) in Darling Street, was home to Dubbo Carpet Court for many years.
A spokeswoman for the council said GST on the $1.2 million building, Lot 42 DP 632829, took its purchase price to $1,320,000.

"The money to purchase this property will come from the profit made from council's land and property development activities," she said.
The spokeswoman declined to say how the sale was initiated. She said "all documents and considerations in regard to this matter remain confidential to council".
There are "a number of ideas" for the site which is surrounded by facilities owned and operated by the council including DRTCC, 20 Carrington Avenue Office & Apartments, and the public car park at 163 Talbragar Street.
"Given the proximity of the building, it was prudent of council to consider purchasing the site," the spokeswoman said.
"It provides council the opportunity to practically complete the civic administration precinct between Darling Street, Church Street, Carrington Avenue, and Talbragar Street."
