Safety visits are performed by firefighters who attend homes to make sure fire alarms are working and are located in suitable areas of the property.
If for some reason a home does not have smoke alarms, according the Fire and Rescue NSW website they will install one for you at no cost.

Firefighters will, with permission, inspect areas of the home including cooking areas, heaters and electric safety all of which can cause fires if faulty.
Assistance can also be provided to ensure a solid fire escape plan in case of an emergency occurring with advice on how to contact emergency services.
Safety visits are often random or target a specific group within communities but people wishing for the firefighters to visit their house can call the local station to book a visit or more information.
