More than 1000 of the 18,525 tests for COVID-19 in NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm Thursday took place in Dubbo, Forbes and Parkes.
Dubbo and its neighbours breathed a sigh of relief when NSW Health advised on Friday morning of no locally-acquired cases in the period.
The Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) sprang into action on Thursday after two Melburnians took a road trip to the Sunshine Coast where they tested positive to the deadly virus.
They stopped in five inland NSW communities including Forbes and Dubbo and visited numerous businesses and entertainment venues between June 1 and 5.
Bright and early on Thursday morning the WNSWLHD, with "partners from the private sector", launched pop-up clinics at Dubbo, Forbes and Parkes.
On Friday morning, WNSWLHD chief executive Scott McLachlan commended the more than 1000 residents, primarily from Forbes and Dubbo, for coming forward for COVID-19 testing.
"High testing rates help us to detect any cases of COVID-19 as early as possible which is key to keeping our communities safe," he said.
"There are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the WNSWLHD."
Mr McLachlan confirmed the three pop-up clinics would operate on Friday along with a drive-through clinic at Coonabarabran.
On Thursday evening, NSW Health announced the infected couple had briefly stopped at the Coonabarabran Coles Express on June 3.
Mr McLachlan said the virus still posed a serious risk.
"If you have even mild symptoms, please get tested," he said.
Symptoms associated with COVID-19 include fever, cough, breathing difficulties, sore throat, loss of smell or taste, runny nose, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and fatigue.
Mr McLachlan is directing regional residents to www.nsw.gov.au where he says "all testing locations" in NSW are listed.
The website also lists the places visited by the couple and when.
The pop-up clinic at Dubbo Showground will operate on Saturday and Sunday.
