Headshave for headspace, a headpsace Dubbo and Marathon Health initiative, aims to raise funds for the implementation of free mental health and drug and alcohol first aid training to those involved in the Youth Ambassadors Program, whilst also raising awareness of and reducing existing stigma around mental health.
Miss Groarke said "for many in today's day and age, mental health is a challenge they struggle through."
"I wanted to participate in this event because youth mental health, and mental health in general, is a very important topic in today's day and age," Miss Groake said.
"I myself suffer from mental health problems and there's still a certain stigma surrounding mental health, so we're hoping it will help to achieve ending that stigma and letting the youth know that there are some great services that they can access, like headspace.
"Most mornings I honestly don't feel like getting up and doing anything.
"I've also experienced thoughts of suicide in the past to the point where my mental wellbeing starts to influence my physical wellbeing and I start to feel physically ill and I'm not the only one who struggles with these feelings.
"My struggles with bullying, peer pressure, work, anxiety, depression and several other things lead me to seek help myself, and there is nothing wrong with that.
"Seeking help for something you're struggling with is not something to be ashamed of, it's something to be proud of."
Miss Groarke said being able to do this with her father by her side is 'heart warming'.
"I feel awesome about it. My dad's always been there for me and he's an amazing person. And to see someone as amazing as my dad is, wanting to shave their heads for a great cause, it truly warms my heart," she said.
And to the fellow participants Miss Groarke says thank you.
"Thank you for coming on this amazing journey and good luck, it's an amazing cause and let's get our heads shaved."
The event will run Monday, March 22, at 1 pm at the Church Street Rotunda.
Miss Groarke said anyone wanting to get involved is more than welcome.
