Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA) president-elect Dr Megan Belot urged residents from Dubbo and all regional areas to rethink any plans to attend.
The fate of the match between Australia and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) has been the subject of public debate amid growing cases of COVID-19 in the capital city.
On Monday Cricket Australia and the SCG Trust reduced crowd numbers to 25 per cent, down from the previously planned 50 per cent capacity.
Despite the change, Dr Belot's advice was categorical.

"The cricket match at the SCG this week should definitely not be allowed to go ahead with spectators, and any Dubbo residents considering going really need to prioritise whether they should be or not," she said.
"Nobody wants to be the one person who brings it home and causes an outbreak in your home town among your friends and family. RDAA advises strongly to stay away."
Acting premier John Barilaro also called on cricket fans in the country to skip the match.
"If you can avoid it, if you can change your plans, I urge you to do so," he said.
"Because it could be a simple infection that then goes back to the region and could cause us much more concern."
Mr Barilaro provided the advice as he also revealed a Berala man had subsequently tested positive to COVID-19 after travelling through Broken Hill, Nyngan and Orange on Saturday and Sunday while infectious.
