The awards recognise people who have helped the region grow or thrive across a range of areas.
There are seven award categories in both towns. The winners will be announced during Dubbo Regional Council's Australia Day celebrations.
Dubbo mayor Ben Shields said the Australia Day awards helped recognise people who had been working away, without any need for praise or acknowledgement.

"We love celebrating our community members here in the Dubbo region, particularly our residents who make a significant contribution to the advancement of the Dubbo region," Cr Shields said.
"That's why we have a number of categories, aimed at ensuring people are recognised across all areas."
Nomination forms can be found online through the council website, or a hard copies can be found at the Dubbo or Wellington customer experience centres.
The Dubbo awards are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Young Sportsperson of the Year
- Services to Sport Award
- Cultural Person of the Year
The Wellington awards are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Sportsperson of the Year
- Young Sportsperson of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Community Service/Achievement Award
