Unfortunately, demand is outstripping supply.
Bob Berry Real Estate sales consultant Karen Chant says lock up and leave properties "look after themselves" when no one is home.
The sales consultant recently conducted a 17-day marketing campaign which resulted in the sale of a three-bedroom strata unit in West Dubbo for a record $981,000.

Nine prospective buyers checked out the property in what the agency calls the "landmark gated and secure boutique development of only four private residences" called 'The Ridge'.
"There certainly is becoming stronger demand for that type of property in Dubbo as we have more professionals come to town to work," Ms Chant told the Daily Liberal.
She said baby boomers were also seeking to downsize and not have to find someone to water their gardens or keep watch on their homes when they were away.
"They want those lock up and leave properties where they can live comfortably in a beautiful home and then go on holidays for any period of time knowing that their home is safe and secure," Ms Chant said.
Three of the nine interested parties made offers on what is now Dubbo's most expensive strata unit for which a price was not specified during the marketing campaign.
The two who missed out on the property are still looking for lock up and leave homes, as are others.
"The fact we have other buyers interested and waiting at that level shows there is a shortage in supply of that sort of property," Ms Chant said.
