That's the message from Minster for the Prevention of Domestic Violence Mark Speakman as the NSW government, Crime Stoppers and NSW Police join forces for a new anti-violence campaign.

The six-week campaign comes after five women were killed in domestic violence murders across NSW in the last eight weeks.

"The brutal killings of these innocent women are just another tragic reminder of this terrible scourge - the latest victim was only 18-years-old," Mr Speakman said.

He urged the community to be a lifeline for the victims.

"Your phone call could be the difference between that woman living and that woman dying," Mr Speakman said.

The television ad campaign encourages people to contact the police if they witness domestic violence. The ads will also be on social media platforms and in doctors' surgeries across NSW.

The latest data from the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research shows there were 691 incidents of domestic violence reported to police in Dubbo in the 12 months to 2020.

It equates to 13 domestic violence assaults every week.

When you look at Orana and the Far West area, where domestic violence is more than five times the NSW average, there were 1689 incidents reported to police. Or 32 incidents per week.

NSW Police domestic violence corporate spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Mark Jones, said officers were responding proactively to domestic violence more than ever, with domestic violence liaison officers in every command and High Risk Offender Teams in every region holding perpetrators to account and protecting victims.

"But we need the public's help. If you know that someone is in immediate danger, if their life is being threatened, then pick up the phone immediately and report to police."
