COVID-19: Restrictions on parks in Dubbo, Geurie and Wellington to ease Friday

As part of the changes, the NSW government is allowing the use of outdoor equipment.

In Dubbo, Dubbo Regional Council will open the Adventure Playground at Elizabeth Park, Elston Park and Wahroonga Park. Wise Park in Geurie will also be open, as well as Walker Cresent, Lions Park and Bicentennial Park in Wellington.

But council's manager corporate image and communications Andrew Parsons said now was not the stop to stop being vigilant.

"At this stage there hasn't been any real evidence that we have to deep clean that equipment. If our parks and recreation staff see that there is a need to deep clean that equipment or take further steps to increase that hygiene they will," Mr Parsons said.

"The request that we're asking is that if they're going to use that equipment, they need to take steps to keep it clean. Just like when you go to the supermarket and use a trolley or a basket, give that piece of equipment a bit of a wipe down, wash your hands before you use it and wash your hands after you use it.

"You don't know how well or unwell the person using the equipment before you is."

Gradually, the rest of the parks across the region will also start to reopen.

"As the health professionals have been saying all throughout this pandemic. If you are unwell, or displaying any of the symptoms, stay home. Do not go to any of these facilities or use any of these facilities," he said.

Public pools are also allowed to open, but in Dubbo, Geurie and Wellington, the pools have already closed for the season.

The customer experience centres will also remain closed.

Mr Parsons has encouraged residents to register for DRC&ME. The online platform can be used for things such as submitting various requests and service orders to council as well as paying rates or invoices.

Under the changes to restrictions, from Friday outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people will be allowed. Cafes and restaurants will allow up to 10 seated patrons and weddings can have 10 guests.

Funerals are allowed to have 20 people inside and 30 if it's outside.
