Emergency services received a triple-0 call at 9pm on Thursday following reports that a vehicle was on fire alongside a block of units on Goode Street in Dubbo.
Fire and Rescue NSW Dubbo Station Officer John Poulos said when crews arrived that the car was well alight.
"It had collided with a corner of a block of units and knocked a section of wall away," he said.
"When we arrived on scene police had already arrived and an officer was attempting to put the fire out with a garden hose."
All residents in the two-storey unit block were immediately evacuated.
"There was some structural weakness there, it was a supporting wall for a small balcony," Station Officer Poulos said.
He said thankfully firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it spread into the units.
Police and State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers were also called to the scene and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
