Cr Ryan wants council to hire a community group to manage the 62 GPTs in the local government area, which catch stormwater pollution before it enters the waterways.
The idea was raised at the recent council meeting. Council staff are looking into the possibility.

"I see that there could be great advantage in equipping local community groups who struggle for funds with contracts from council that would provide steady income streams," the councillor said.
Cr Ryan said a community group would "perform the task with passion" whereas council had to focus on the day-to-day operations.
