The volunteer hub leader of Central West NSW for St John Ambulance was named as Dubbo's Citizen of the Year.
In her role, Ms Hamblin provides medical assistance at events in the Orana region. The high number of hours she has given to volunteering lead to her receiving a Bronze Commendation from St John Ambulance.
"There are so many amazing opportunities with St John and while you're there you get to help people out so it's fabulous," she said.
"When the royals came to Dubbo I got a call from council to say 'can you organise the first aid?'. We got to go into the secure zone with the Prince and I got to bring one of my cadets with me. Then I went down to the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games. Last week I got to do Elton John."

Ms Hamblin said she never expected she would be called on to help at the Invictus Games.
"Being able to go down there was just a wonderful experience. And I got to meet athletes from all over the world," she said.
The Citizen of the Year said it was the people that made her stick with the organisation.
"St John is like a really big family, we all know each other. We've got an event next week in Orange and I've got people travelling from Sydney and Armidale to come and help," Ms Hamblin said.
It's been six years since she signed up to volunteer.
"I joined St John when I was out at Cobar. There's not much to do at Cobar so I joined St John and SES (State Emergency Service) out there because a neighbour was involved," Ms Hamblin said.
"It's such a great organisation, I get to do so much. I enjoy it because of what I get out of it but I also enjoy helping people."
While she was at the Dubbo Australia Day ceremony to receive an award, Ms Hamblin was also there as a first aid volunteer.
After the event she said she was going to Wellington to celebrate with one of her cadets who was also receiving an award.
