Cr Vicki Etheridge claims drug abuse and related crimes are affecting the "whole community" and state Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders is not doing enough to fix those problems.

Mr Saunders hit back with advice that he has held talks about potential solutions with various government ministers and experts in the drug, alcohol and mental health space.

"Everyone wants to get the best possible result, as do I," he said.

After the government's ice inquiry concludes and the final report is handed down at the end of January, Mr Saunders said he would "then be working with the relevant Ministers and agencies to get the best result for the entire electorate".

Cr Etheridge accused Mr Saunders and the government of "hiding behind yet another inquiry" when experts from a range of professions and other inquiries had repeatedly concluded more rehabilitation services were needed in regional NSW.

"We know that when Dugald puts his mind to things he can deliver," she said.

"He recently secured $10 million for basketball in Dubbo, and they're spending $140 million on a bridge hardly anybody wants built. It's high time he now focus on the non-sexy issues like a rehabilitation facility.

"It's time Dugald showed leadership on this issue, and if it's his political party saying no to a rehabilitation facility in Dubbo, he should stand up to them and speak out."

Mr Saunders said he had a record of delivering for Dubbo and "the range of projects I've secured funding for ...speak for themselves".
