Conservatorium Director Vivienne Winther said the open day is the perfect opportunity to see the conservatorium students in action and to explore your own musical interests. "Everyone is invited," Ms Winther said.
The day will feature various music programs for people to explore while providing round-the-clock student performances across an array of instruments, and there will be refreshments available for purchasing.
"We will start the day off with our Band Extravaganza from 1pm, where you can see and hear our local school and community bands performing," Ms Winther said
"Then we have more student performances throughout the afternoon - rom duets to ensembles, including an all-ages string ensemble of violins, violas and cellos, a combined wind group of flutes, clarinets and saxophones, our youth chorus and music theatre kids, and much more."
"Open day also features free come and try sessions, where anyone can have a go at making music.
"No previous experience is required to join these sessions; there are music games for preschoolers, an intro-to-music session for kindy kids, a taste of singing in a choir for ages ten-years-old to 16, and popular African-style drumming for adults and youth."
More than 800 children, teens and adults take part in music activities each week through the Macquarie Conservatorium according to Ms Winther.
