"Currently the area is a 60km/h signposted speed limit area as there are roadworks being carried out."
Police said they observed a vehicle travelling at speeds well above the signposted limit.
"A check was conducted on radar detecting the vehicle up to 114km/h at the end of the check," officers said.
A short time later the male driver with a Class C P2 provisional licence from Warrawong near Wollongong was stopped.
At the time he was not displaying his p-plates.
The male driver was issued a number of infringements, including: exceed speed over 45km/h ($2482) carrying six demerit points; and not display P plates ($268) and carrying two demerit points.
