A very high to severe fire danger has been forecast in Orana.
Orana RFS team manager Superintendent Lyndon Weiland said he was concerned the hot and windy weather across the next few days was only the start of a very long fire season. He urged members of the public to be cautious with lighting any fire in those conditions.

People are strongly encouraged to postpone burning until the weather is more suitable and there is less risk of the fire escaping.
"Conditions during the winter have been unusually dry, resulting in the vegetation and soil moisture levels being extremely low," Superintendent Weiland said.
"People will need to be extremely careful when using fire. If a fire leaves your property, the landholder is liable for any damages."
The Fire Control Centre should also be notified at least 24 hours prior to lighting a fire.
