World War II, also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945.
The talk coincides with the library's 2019 History Week celebrations which touch on the full experiences of the two Dubbo women's organisations that supported the Dubbo community and the war effort, Dubbo Merrymakers and Dubbo Voluntary Aid Detachment.
According to the Britannica Encyclopedia, there were more than 40,000,000 to 50,000,000 deaths incurred in World War II, which in many ways was seen to be a continuation of World War One after a twenty-year hiatus, making World War ll the bloodiest conflict, as well as the largest war, in history.
Ms Taylor said the women's organisations sparked her interest after she found old photos of some of the women from the Dubbo Merrymakers, and was curious to know what it actually was that the organisations did.
"These women stayed on the home front during World War Two. They performed theatre to entertain the veterans and raised money for the community," Ms Taylor said.
There will be a presentation based on research undertaken by the State Library of NSW highlighting a fascinating collection of images held in the Local Studies Pictures Collection that will be installed in the foyer of Dubbo Library before the event.
There will be free admission to attend, and light refreshments will be provided.
