Ms Francis has received an Order of Australia Medal.
She's spent a long time serving her community through a range of organisations, having started volunteering back in 1956.
Ms Francis was a member of the St James Catholic Parish Council in Peak Hill from 1995 to 2018. For 21 years she was also a member, and president, of the Diocese of Wilcannia Forbes with the St Vincent de Paul Conference.

For more than two decades she volunteered with the Peak Hill Business and Tourism Association. She also gave 15 years to the Peak Hill Show Society and eight to the Australia Day Committee.
Between 2007 and 2018 she was the coordinator of Clean Up Australia in the Peak Hill area.
Ms Francis has been named the Peak Hill Citizen of the Year twice, in 1997 and then in 2016.
She also received a Dubbo Electorate Award for recognition of her contribution to the community.
