According to coach Michelle Williams, the result caused feelings of both excitement and frustration throughout the team.
"It's exciting because we have started the year out better than we have the past three years," Williams said.
"In the past, we would have lost.
"It's also frustrating that we couldn't get past the line."
The side now has two draws under its belt after the round three 50-50 result against the Narromine Hawks.
William's said it's freakish' to have had two draws in a row.
"It's good to see our games are a lot closer this year," she said.
The Hornets currently sit midway-up the ladder in fourth place below A-grade 'newbies' the Inspire Rebels, but Williams says it's a good effort considering the Hornets don't train.
"I guess you could say I'm the coach, I lead the team, but we don't train, it's too hard," she said.
"Some of our players have children or work.
"We have a fairly new team, and we've basically come together on the court."
The Hornets have set out to make history as they aim to make finals for the very first time.
"We want to win obviously," Williams laughed.
"We will continue to improve as time goes on.
We'll improve as the players get comfortable, gel and get familiar with each other."
Williams said the top teams, Fusion Heat and Fusion Fire would be the Hornets' fiercest competitors.
"Fusion Heat have a very good side, and they recruited well," she said.
"It's hard to pick who will make finals, but obviously the Heat have made finals for a number of years now.
"We've had some very close games, and the new A-grade teams have been pushing the other teams," she added.
The Narromine Hawks, who are currently sitting in fifth position on the ladder, and the Nyngan Cougars are also new to A-grade this year, and according to Williams, they have been playing really well.
"They have been pushing the other teams," she said.
"It's good to have that push.
"Their confidence is skyrocketing.
"This year's competition is definitely exciting, and it's only going to improve in the future."
Williams said the Hornets are a pretty good, all-around bunch of girls.
The Macquarie Hornets will play the Nyngan Cougars on June 1 at 3pm in round five.
