Ben Patrick Carolan, 19, of Fitzroy Street, was found guilty of possessing illegal drugs.
Dubbo police said they were walking through the Pastoral Hotel at about 12.50am on March 2, when a security guard told them Carolan was seen buying drugs from an unknown man.
After security personnel ejected Carolan from the establishment, Police followed him down Talbragar Street.
When police approached Carolan he said his name was someone else's before admitting he possessed three MDMA capsules.
Carolan then gave his real name and told police he got the drugs for himself at a cost of $25 to $30 each.
In Dubbo Local Court on May 1, Magistrate Theresa Hamilton noted Carolan's lack of a criminal record and recorded no conviction. He was placed on a conditional release order that requires him to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
