Weatherzone data shows up to 40 millimetres of rain could fall across much of the wider central west region which will boost already-full gauges in some towns.
Predictions show the most rain will fall in Cowra, Forbes, Grenfell, Mudgee, Orange and Young with each location expected to receive up to 40mm.
In Dubbo, 20mm is predicted to fall over Friday and Saturday, with other towns including Bathurst, Lithgow, Nyngan, Oberon, Parkes and Wellington also expected to receive the same amount.
Temperatures on Friday are expected to reach 28 degrees, while a top of 20 is predicted for Saturday with the clearing showers.
From Sunday temperatures will reach the high 20s for the rest of the week with sunny weather predicted for Sunday through to Wednesday.
March has already been quite a wet month for some locations in the Central West, with four towns already receiving more than the monthly average.
Mudgee has been the wettest location with 102.0mm received in a month that usually records a long-term average of 55.5mm.
In Oberon, 69.4mm of rain has been received, the March average is 65.5mm
Wellington has received 61.4mm (average of 50.7mm) and Young has recorded 52.6 (average of 49.5mm).
In Dubbo a total of 40.4mm has been recorded at the airport over four days during March, with the long term average sitting at 61.4mm over 6.7 days.
The wettest day this month so far has been March 23, when 13.8mm of rain was recorded. The hottest day this month was March 10, with a recording of 36.5 degrees.
