Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Dubbo and Delroy were called to a property on Colombia Drive at 10.30pm on Tuesday following reports of a large fire.
Dubbo Station Officer Mick Medlin was among those who attended the blaze and said the house was well alight upon their arrival.
“Firefighters worked hard to contain the fire and stop it spreading to a neighbouring property,” he said.
Station Officer Medlin said it took around two hours for the three crews from Dubbo station and two crews from Delroy to extinguish the fire.
“It was severely damaged by fire and it’s now under police investigation,” he said.
Station Officer Medlin said the property was owned by the Department of Housing and was vacant at the time.
