Acting director of community and recreation Ian McAlister said a “splash pad” would be ready for action on October 1 this year.
”The concrete base, guttering, plant room and reticulation system is approximately 90 per cent completed. Water play elements are scheduled to arrive in early September and installed by the end of September,” he said.

“This splash pad is special because it will cater for children between three and 13 yrs of age and it incorporates both small water slides and interactive water play elements.
“The new splash pad will add another dimension of inclusive play within the Aquatic Leisure Centre, and it will allow for children to interactively play with water.
“The splash pad has been positioned between the existing toddler’s pool and kiosk to enable direct supervision by parents.
Funding for the splash pad came from the $9 million Stronger Communities Fund.
