Boo Sooka are performing on Friday night at the Garden Hotel from 8pm, and on Thursday the lads declared they would be donating half of their ticket sales and doing a silent auction for Boo’s guitar.
The group has accumulated millions of Spotify streams and dominated national airwaves with singles like ‘Oh My’, ‘Deception Bay’, ‘Fool’ and their 2015 debut single, ‘Kingdom Leader’, which peaked at number six on the Australian iTunes Electronic chart.
Boo also managed to reach #50 in Triple j’s 2015 Hottest 100 with ‘Deception Bay’ and snagged a J Award nomination for Unearthed Artist of the Year in 2015.
Tickets for the concert are available at the door or by visiting http://www.musicglue.com/boo-seeka/events/2017-06-09-does-this-last-regional-tour-2017-garden-hotel
The gesture comes just two days after a statement from the family revealed the full extent of the spinal injuries suffered by Medley while playing reserve grade for Dubbo CYMS last weekend will not be known for some time.
The popular sportsman, who captains the CYMS Cougars in the Whitney Cup, was making a comeback to rugby league when he was injured in a tackle.
He was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital and had surgery on a fractured C5 vertebra, and his future mobility is uncertain.
The response to the plight of Medley and his family has been enormous, with more than $35,000 donated through the crowdfunding page https://www.youcaring.com/ryanmedley-840785 and more still rolling in.
Medley’s old school, Dubbo College, has also got behind the appeal.
The school purchased one of 10 tickets being sold to State of Origin 2 at ANZ Stadium for $2000, and are on-selling raffle tickets to go into a draw for their spot in the silver service corporate suite.
Tickets are $50 each and any additional funds made through the sales will be donated to the Medley family.
For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Craig May on the details provided in the Dubbo College Facebook post listed above.
