SOON a bustle of activity will erupt at Dubbo Showground as the largest cattle exhibition in NSW brings hundreds of stock and people to the city for the fifth year.

About 600 cattle will be unloaded at the Dubbo Showground on March 13 in preparation for the NSW Beef Spectacular and Trade Field Day.
The event will take place on March 14 and 15 involving cattle competitions, seminars and workshops.
NSW Beef Spectacular and Trade Field Day co-ordinator Graeme Board said the event was great for the industry.
"It is a very good
opportunity for people who have stud cattle to showcase and commercial bulls in the central west," he said.
There are many classes in the competition showcasing many different breeds over the two days, including junior paraders, junior judging and pens of three.
Seminars and workshops will be run from 9.30am on the Wednesday and Thursday for those involved in the industry.
Mr Board said the two days were good for the Dubbo economy, as many who compete not only pay entry fees but also spend money in the city on items such as accommodation and food.
Competition fees range from the $55 entry fee for the junior heifer show to the $155 entry fee for a pen of three bulls.
"I believe it is a very good thing for the region of Dubbo," Mr Board said.
The trade and commercial sites used by companies displaying products or selling food are also charged a fee to use the Dubbo Showground.
"I think Dubbo is a very good location for the Beef Spectacular as the hub of the region," Mr Board said.
Mr Board predicted there would be about 600 cattle in the show, a similar amount to past years.
