With top 10 finishes in each of the feature races in the three nights, which was highlighted by a runner-up finish behind Steve Lines during the second round at Borderline Speedway, Cross - a Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway regular - finished fourth overall in the Easter Trail point standings.
“The goal at the beginning of the Easter Trail was to just make the feature race on each night and to come away with a podium finish at one of the rounds and a top-five finish overall certainly exceeded our own expectations,” Cross said.
“We do the majority of our racing at Parramatta, so it was good to get away and visit new tracks and come up against some new competition.”
The highlight for Cross and his family team was without a doubt their second-place finish at Borderline Speedway and the Dubbo-based racer was simply rapt with the South Australian facility.
“I loved Borderline Speedway and I cannot wait to get back there,” he said.
“It’s got a little bit of everything and I adjusted to it quite well
from early on in the night, and to come away with a second-place finish in the feature race was proof of that.”
Cross well and truly proved that not all Parramatta City Raceway racers are not one-track specialists.
“A lot of people say that Parramatta-based racers are only good on home soil and I was very proud to leave the Easter trail with a solid result which certainly helps break down that stereotype,” Cross said.
The NSW title at Parramatta City Raceway this Saturday night will be Cross’s next event.
Cross gave special thanks to his team; father Frank, older brother Michael, along with Jimmy, Spike, Glenno and Scotty for all their support, but also his season sponsors: Frank Cross Tyres in Dubbo, Firenza Tyres, Concept Motorsports, Sydney Tyre Company, Recamic, Pedders Suspension in Dubbo, Steve Morris Smash Repairs in Dubbo, Gasweld and Valvoline Oils.
