The CYMS stalwart co-coached the Group 11 premiership winning first grade side with Shawn Townsend and played a major role on the field as right centre before announcing his retirement after the grand final.
The Ken McMullen Medal, named in honour of the captain-coach of the club’s first ever premiership in 1969, is presented to the player who displays outstanding ability, commitment and leadership.
“Last year when Bernard Wilson won the inaugural Ken McMullen Medal I thought that would be a nice one to win one day,” Yeo said.
“It’s something you cherish for the rest of your life and I was lucky enough to achieve that so it was a nice feeling and I am very proud.
“My old man (Pat Yeo) and my uncles were in the club around the time Ken McMullen was involved and they spoke very highly of him.
“They all held him in high regard and he has had a big influence on where the club is today so it is an honour to be recognised for more than just playing football.”
