After Dubbo’s dramatic loss to Penrith Panthers the previous week, neither team could make the finals leading into the match, however local pride was definitely on the line in the derby.
The only change to the Dubbo line up saw Benny PIckering filling in for the unavailable Claire Hargreaves.
The game started slowly and the effects of a very long season were showing for both sides.
Dubbo and Bathurst virtually went basket for basket for the first quarter. Despite the efforts from Dubbo, Bathurst put on a late surge to lead at half-time 38 to 29.
The third period saw the Rams pick up the pace, led by Rebecca Rattey and Caitlin Colliver on the scoring end, and the outstanding defensive efforts of Alex Klaassens, Monique Storch and Melissa Lee.
A third quarter time-out by coach Nick Hubbard spurred on the Rams to rally to the challenge and draw level at 45-all by the end of the quarter.
The fourth quarter started quickly for Dubbo with the girls taking control of the game and despite the efforts of Bathurst’s star Haley Lepaio, Dubbo took the game 68 to 58.
