Eight races are on the Dubbo TAB afternoon card that should attract good turnover for punters all over Australia.
Trainer-driver Bluey Young has been carefully plotting a career path for the Explorador-About Know bay gelding.
Prior to the last run at Parkes on February 14 everything seemed to be going along nicely for the trainer and his syndicate of owners, Greg Peisley, Tod Richards, Brendon Cooper and Lloyd Walker.
However Young had a torrid time with the $2.20 favourite at Parkes when he broke, hung in and raced wide and as a result it was no surprise he finished 25 metres last.
In a qualifying trial at Dubbo on Tuesday night Givitabootful was driven patiently by Young and finished a neck second behind Karloo Blew in a mile rate of 2:05.7.
If you take the gelding's four previous runs before Parkes on merit, Givitabootful should be a special. After running into places at his first two starts, he ripped home to win as favourite at Dubbo at his next two outings and is obviously a pacer with considerable ability.
The biggest dangers for a Young stable victory are certain to come from Koloura Doc and Idle Ledo in barriers two and one respectively.
Koloura Doc, a Shipps Fella-Princess Margaret gelding, will be having his first start today for Bruce and Margaret McKinnon.
Bruce drove Koloura Doc in a maiden trial on Tuesday night and was able to hold off the more experienced Nulla Road by a half head in a race rated at 2:07.0.
It's wonderful to see McKinnon back in the gig following a serious training accident last year and hopefully it will be a winning return on this occasion.
While International Women's Day was celebrated earlier this week, today's meeting at the showground paceway could also be one for the 'fairer sex'.
Narelle Armstrong from Baradine is making a return to Dubbo and will harness up Pomeroy Twirl in race one and Jefferson Gold in the second.
Neither have the best form but have drawn on the inside of the front line and should have the run of the race.
Gunnedah trainer Sally Torrens also heads south and has five horses involved.
One of her best chances is with Koara Nick from barrier nine in the Dubbo Vet Hospital Pace (1720m).
Today's program starts at 1.30pm and patrons will be accommodated with the usual tote and bookmaker facilities as well as a well-stocked bar and canteen.
