Dubbo Showground will play host to the Carnival of Cups meeting on Friday night before hosting races their annual Boxing Day meeting.
Edwards believes it is an exciting time for the club and he cannot wait to see the racing on Friday.
"This Friday night the Red Ochre meeting at the Carnival of Cups I can tell you now the fields we have a probably the best fields we've had for a long, long, long time," he said.
"The finals that we've got can be one by any number of horses. The Quambys Stayer Cup which is over 2525 metres there is six or seven horses in there.
"It could be called the country inter-dominion because of these horses that are in this.
"The rating of the horses that in this race are such that some of them are inter-dominion class horses. That's one of the races I'm looking forward to even though the Red Ochre is the number one target."

While the Red Ochre Mares Classic Final is the biggest event of the night, Edwards says there is a number of races he is looking forward to watching due to the strength of horses in the fields.
"We've got the three-year-old Peter Lew Memorial which has got some real class three-year-old horses in it," he said.
"The fields that we've got on Friday night every race is basically a full field and the horses are just amazing. I don't know how anyone is going to pick a winner but I'm sure they are going to have a lot of fun doing it."
Edwards said the strength of the fields for Friday mainly comes down to horses travelling from all over the state to look for races including those in Dubbo.
"For a country field the fields on Friday are just amazing because of the quality of horses," he said.
"We've got them all the way down in the south from southern riverina areas all the way into the hunter valley and with Bathurst of course.
"We've got horses from all the different areas who are chasing races at this time of the year. It's just terrific to see the support these people keep giving Dubbo.
"It's just so encouraging."
While there is still a little over a week until Boxing Day, Edwards is already looking forward to one race in particular for the meeting.
"The Boxing Night is pretty well renowned that we have such good racing," he said.
"We have such good attendance and a real party atmosphere.
"We have the Gerard Yeo Memorial which is the feature race of the night.
"The Yeo family have their Christmas gathering there.
"We've been thankful most of the years Isaah Yeo has been along and been able to socialise with a lot of people."
