Braithwaite belted 89 not out to rescue his side in a thrilling contest against Macquarie Blue that went down to the final over.
Macquarie White had earlier made 7/171 - Indika Dombepola's 43 not out the top score - and they looked set for victory when CYMS was reduced to 6/27 early on.
But Braithwaite entered and became the match-winner, while captain Darryl Thompson's 33 was also key late on as a narrow one-wicket win was secured with just three balls to spare.
CYMS Green made it a good weekend for the Cougars as they defeated Rugby.
Batting first, Rugby again looked to Glenn Healey in his search for a third century of the summer but he was knocked over by CYMS captain Heath Larance for just 10.

Brett Paul (42) showed some fight but Bryan Barker entered the attack late on and took 4/17 from five overs to knock over Rugby for 137.
Opening bat Andrew Moreton played the anchor role in reply and made 38 not out while Barker's solid game was capped by 22 late on as his side won four wickets.
In other games, the Rhinos dominated the Tigers in the Newtown derby.
The big win didn't look certain early as Akshay Wadhwa's 4/12 restricted the Tigers to just 107 when batting first.
Anoop Nair's 42 had proved key in the innings and then his bowlers shone as the Tigers were knocked over for just 64.
Pradeep George starred, taking 4/10, while Emil Joseph chimed in with 3/15.
Macquarie White continued its unbeaten start to the season on Saturday by defeating RSL-Colts Coolbaggie.
Jayden Wallace (3/38) headlined a strong all-round bowling performance that knocked over Coolbaggie for 125, with Steve Orth (23) one of only to batters to pass 20.
There were few troubles in the chase, as Fahad Balach made 32 at the top of the order before Nathan Collis led his side to a six-wicket victory.
In the final match of the round in third grade, the Newtown Kings proved too good for RSL-Colts United in a tight contest at John McGrath 1.
Parul Sharma bagged 4/15 for the Kings but United still posted a competitive 159 thanks largely to Brayden McGhee's 67.
In an entertaining chase, Bailey Collins (3/36) and Sam Bass (2/37) gave United hope but Vikram Sing continued his good form by making a top score of 46 in what finished a three-wicket victory.
In the RSL-Pinnington Cup second grade competition on Saturday, Rugby defeated CYMS to open their account for the season.
After three losses, a bye and two washouts to start the season, Rugby scored a tough three-wicket win on Saturday.
After CYMS won the toss and opted to bat, Ryan George ripped through the top order on his way to taking 4/20 while Bailey O'Connor (3/29) and Josh Connolly (3/30) chipped in as the Cougars were knocked over for 127, with Dylan Fairall's 31 the top score.
In reply, Rugby had a number of wobbles in the chase but opener Artie Taylor held things together and finished unbeaten on 49 as his side reached the target with three wickets and 7.2 overs to spare.
RSL-Colts continued its strong start to the season by crushing South Dubbo Lemons.
Veteran seamer Geoff Wheeler was the star for his side, taking 4/23 as the Lemons were rolled for just 68.
Colts went on to secure a dominant nine-wicket win inside 16 overs, with Nathan Towart (33 not out) leading the way.
Narromine got its season back on track Saturday by overcoming a poor start to hand the Newtown Ducks their first loss.
Narromine was reduced to 5/35 early on at home but Matt Ward followed up his half century last round by making 74 to get the innings back on track.
Ward's knock led Narromine to a competitive total of 8/175 the Ducks could only manage 112 in reply.
Captain Doug Potter starred with the ball for Newtown, taking 4/6 from 4.4 overs.
In the final match of the round, the Newtown Demons defeated South Dubbo Limes.
Captain Ben Bunt was the star of the show, taking 4/12 as the Limes were restricted to 9/127 before he whacked 59 not out to secure a seven-wicket win with more than 18 overs to spare.
