With minor flood levels experienced throughout the LGA, council and emergency services were kept busy responding to calls for assistance, protecting assets and critical infrastructure, and monitoring water levels.
With Burrendong Dam now over 145 per cent - a striking contrast to this time two years ago when it was about 4 per cent - and with the influence of La Nina expected to run into early next year, our community can do a lot to prepare for floods and storms.
Visit the NSW SES website via: www.ses.nsw.gov.au, there you'll find a range of information and resources to assist and help you prepare.
Remember: Never enter floodwater. If it's flooded, forget it.
Dubbo Day Awards
Twelve of our outstanding residents were recognised for their contributions to community at last week's Dubbo Day 2021 Awards.
Dubbo Day marks the anniversary of Dubbo's gazettal as a village November 23, 1849.
Congratulations to this year's Tony McGrane Award recipient, Ronny Gibbs, who as a former footballer, has dedicated his life to rugby league.
The award is named in honour of Mr Anthony Michael McGrane, who was Mayor of Dubbo from 1991 to 1999, and was later elected as the NSW Member for Dubbo until his death in 2004.
Local government election time
After a few delays, it's finally election day this Saturday.
A reminder that on election day, voters in the Dubbo Local Government area will receive a referendum voting paper.
Voters need to write a 'Yes' or 'No' answer to the question asking if you support keeping the ward system with 10 councillors; or, if you support abolishing the ward system and electing 11 councillors.
Voting 'yes' - abolishes the ward system and elects 11 councillors.
Voting 'no' - keeps the ward system and elects 10 councillors.
