A 34-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition after he was shot in the leg at a home in Dubbo overnight.

Just before 11pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a house on Baird Street, following a concern for welfare report.
The man was found inside the home with a gunshot wound to his leg, wound to his face and lacerations to his arms.

Police have been told two unknown people wearing face coverings entered the home and assaulted the man before fleeing the scene.
The man was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Dubbo Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Officers from Orana-Mid Western Police District established a crime scene and have begun an investigation into circumstances surrounding the incident.
