RSL Colts skipper Marty Jeffrey won the toss and chose to bat first as openers Charlie Kempston and Chris Morton looked to get off to a flying start.
However, it was not to be as Jakke Gardiner removed Kempston for just two before left-armer Lawson Shepherd had Morton caught behind for 11.
Jeffrey was the next man gone for 12 which brought Anthony Atlee to the crease to partner Mitch Bower.

The pair looked to get some momentum back into the RSL Colts innings but some tight bowling from Aiden Bennewith saw Bower go for 27 before Jacob Hill removed Atlee also for 27.
The typically strong RSL Colts lower order struggled as the side finished 7/109 from their 20 overs.
Shepherd (2/20) was strong upfront for Rugby along with Gardiner (1/16) and Bennewith (2/16).
Rugby openers Ben Wheeler and Darcy Chewings still had their work cut out for them against a quality side and looked shaky early.
That was until Wheeler put the foot down monstering a six to go along with six fours on his way to 58 not out while Chewings did his job rotating the strike finishing 46 not out as Rugby chased down the total in 18 overs to win by 10 wickets.
The spinning duo of Bower (0/14) and Jeffrey (0/13) tried their best but some loose bowling from RSL Colts made the difference in the end.
