The Cougars have one of the best lineups in the competition on paper but have yet to really fire so far this season, with rain washing out both their scheduled matches last weekend.
However, Knaggs believes there has been positive sides out of their opening two games of the competition.
"It's been pretty good," he said.
"I think we are still getting our combinations together and trying to figure things out.
"But I've thought so far it's been pretty good.
"Once we're full of confidence we are going to be hard to beat.
"The first round loss against RSL Colts was a bit of a bummer but if we can bring things back together we will be a decent team."
Knaggs is hoping to see the Cougars transfer some of their energy back into the field labelling it one of the areas the side needs to improve in.
"I guess just in the field, just pressure," he said.
"Their batters like to be aggressive so I think in the field we've been lacking that aggression.
"Especially fielding wise, bowling hasn't been too bad.
"With our batting we just need one bloke from the top five to go on and make a big score.
"It's what Tom Coady did a few weeks ago.
"We just need a few blokes to step up."

Coady has been one of the Cougars' best scoring 70 not out last match but with the class of Ben Patterson, Brock Larance and Tom Nelson there's others who look not far away from a big score.
Rugby have lost both their opening matches by big margins but Knaggs is still wary of representative trio Ben Wheeler, James O'Brien and Jacob Hill.
"Those three are probably their big players," he said.
"Benny Wheeler he just sets the tone from the start opening the bat.
"Obes and Hilly are just good players through the middle.
"They are definitely some players to watch out for."
While he has been a mainstay of the Dubbo Western Premier League side for several seasons now, Knaggs along with Hill will feature in the Brewery Shield side set to face Cobar on Sunday.
"It's going to be a bit of fun," he said.
"I think they've got a few blokes out so it will be nice to go down and help them out.
"It will be fun against Cobar.
"I haven't played in a while so it should be fun playing with the younger blokes."
Macquarie will be looking to continue its winning ways when it takes on the Newtown Tigers at Lady Cutler 2 on Saturday afternoon.
Macquarie has won both of its RSL Whitney Cup games so far this season with big victories over Souths and Rugby respectively.
The Tigers have won one of their two games this season with a big win over Souths before a narrow loss to CYMS.
The men in black and gold have seemingly unearthed a talent in Theme Rewat who has made two half centuries from as many innings this season.
Rewat and the rest of the Newtown batters will be made to work for their runs against a bowling attack which features Ben and Lachlan Strachan, Will Skinner and also Blake and Myles Smith.
In the other game of the round, RSL Colts will also be looking to remain unbeaten when they take on the South Dubbo Hornets at No. 2 Oval.
Play for all three grades will start at 1pm.
