An audiometer and laptop were purchased with the money to help Hear Our Heart continue their hearing screening work.

Kidzfix Foundation managing director David Ward along with his son Lucas, together with Brian and Pam Bowman, got to experience the work Hear Our Heart do first hand on Friday afternoon during a handover of the donation.

"It was good," Mr Ward said.

"Brian, Pam, Lucas and myself actually got a hearing test while we were there."

The audiometer will be used to test hearing levels and check for any possible hearing loss the child has.

Mr Ward admitted he was glad to see the money go to the right place for those who need it most.

"It was amazing to see this little piece of equipment which is no bigger than a mobile phone," he said.

"But it's able to do non-evasive first stage hearing tests for kids basically."

The Kidzfix Foundation helps sick and disadvantaged kids across Australia while also holding a seven day rally on dirt roads throughout the country with entrants raising over $4500.

Mr Ward said he was pleased to work with an organisation such as Hear Our Heart who provide hearing screening in their 'Ear Bus' which provides a state of the art purpose-built facility for a quality hearing screening.

"A local foundation like that does such amazing work," he said.

"We take it for granted that the majority of us have hearing let alone good hearing."

Mr Ward said children who have undiagnosed hearing problems can struggle with learning and also have trouble with their social development which can impact them for years to come.

"It must be difficult particularly for kids to be highlighted with learning difficulties or challenges in their life because their hearing is impaired or damaged," he said.

"So for Hear our Hearts to be able to go into schools and do these tests free of charge for kids is amazing. Then they also obviously are then supported by the hearing teachers and foundations around Dubbo as well if they do have hearing impairments.

"It's a terrific organisation and we are pretty chuffed to be able to support them."
