The result in the first race of the day might have been disappointing for Cameron Crockett but it wasn't too long before the Scone trainer was smiling again at Dubbo Turf Club on Sunday.

There was a vast difference in the early events at the Ladies Day meeting for Crockett, as Ga Ga Gus failed to deliver on the hype surrounding the lightly-raced gelding early on before stablemates One Penny, Irresistible Miss and Into The Fire won in succession to secure an impressive treble.
Crockett was feeling positive about One Penny's chances on Sunday and after the punters backed her into a $2.70 favourite she didn't disappoint in The William Farrer F&M Maiden Handicap (1010m).
Brooke Stower, in top form after a lengthy break from racing due to injury, jumped well with One Penny and led the entire way on the Soft 6 surface to claim victory number one in career start number three.
"I was pretty confident she'd run well," Crockett said.
"I wasn't sure how she'd handle the track but it's not as bad as we thought it would be."

Previously trained by Kody Nestor at Dubbo, One Penny was already into her first preparation when she arrived at Crockett's stables earlier this year.
She failed to place in two starts so Crockett sent her to the paddock in May and there was signs of improvement in two trials prior to Sunday's event.
"We got her mid-prep last time and I don't think I could get her right, but she's right now," Crockett added.
"I was really happy with her. She had a trial the other day, thinking this track would be hard work (after recent rain) so she had the condition on her side."
Sunday's event marked the first time Stower had ridden for Crockett and she couldn't have done much more to impress in the all-the-way victory.
It continued Stower's strong run of form since returning from roughly a year on the sidelines after suffering a fractured vertebrate following a mounting yard fall at Grafton in August of last year.
One Penny held on well on Sunday to win by almost half-a-length from the fast-finishing Billabong Isle ($13) and Kenderesi ($16).
Crockett was being congratulated again soon after when Irresistible Miss fought on down the straight to win the Ladies Day Maiden Plate (1310m).
Ridden well by Jake Pracey-Holmes, Miss Impossible ($4) held on to win in a bunched finish from Miss Milton ($2.80 favourite) and Flashlin ($21).
The quickfire hat-trick was secured in the very next race as Crockett and Pracey-Holmes again combined to win with Into The Fire.
Into The Fire ($4) led from start-to-finish with Into The Fire in The Pig and Tinder Box Benchmark 66 Handicap (1010m).
Previously trained by Bjorn Baker, Into The Fire now has a win and a second for Crockett.
Crockett's treble came after fellow Scone trainer Brett Cavanough won the day's opener with Tidal Rush.
