Dubbo based trainer Lundholm had Hit The Rim nominated in two races across the weekend but opted to keep the horse for the Purehouse Rural & Adama Country Magic Showcase Class 2 Plate which proved to be a masterstroke.
Hit The Rim jockey Buckley timed his run to perfection pushing to the outside and showing plenty of speed on the final straight.
The win was Buckley's second of the day after a win in the second race of the day but the jockey showed all his class on Hit The Rim.
Following the race, Lundholm told Sky Thoroughbred Central he was pretty excited when the betting odds kept rising for the horse and the trainer even gave the owners a tip.
"We were very excited," he said.
"They put up the $14.
"I just got onto the owners to tell them to have something on this he's going super and he's been very consistent this time.
"We were really excited to get here today."

After running third at Coonamble a fortnight ago, Lundholm was pretty impressed by what he saw from Hit The Rim and admitted he got some good feedback from Buckley.
"I thought he ran really well,"
"He chased the line well."
Hit The Rim had previously been nominated for the Baradine Cup but Lundholm was relieved his decision to run earlier in the day has now paid off.
"Bucko [Buckley] rode him and came back to say he wouldn't be afraid to go a bit further with him," he said.
"That's why we had him in the two races but obviously the $50,000 on offer here today in this race was too good of prize money.
"He can go to 1400 next start so I kept him fresh and we pulled it off."
Earlier in the day, Diamonds Galore took out the Imperial Hotel Maiden Showcase Plate for trainer Geoff O'Brien.
Diamonds Galore sat well inside the pack heading into the straight before jockey Brooke Stower made a move up the inside to blow past the rest of the field winningly by just over a length.
Tamworth trainer Craig Martin won the Max Hawkins Memorial, Marc Hawkins Electrical & Tim Evans Maiden Showcase Handicap with Aarkus.
Ridden by Buckley for his first win, Aarkus looked way too good for the field pushing away from the pack with 200 metres left for a comfortable win.
