The commission is looking to hire 950 residents from the Central West including 151 in Dubbo, 136 in Bathurst, 142 in Orange, 110 in Lithgow, 57 in Cowra, 39 in Forbes, 42 in Blayney and 26 in Oberon.
Director of election support services Wayne Morgan said there were a range of opportunities available.
"We're hiring additional staff in line with our COVID-19 Safety Plan," he said.
"Extra staff will support people in checking-in and out of polling places, maintaining physical distancing and additional cleaning measures.
"There are jobs available just on election day, but there's also a range of positions to be filled over the next 10 weeks.
"Pay rates are very competitive and we provide training to staff. To help keep our staff and voters safe, we will also be working in line with COVID-19 safety guidance and any public health orders."
Election officials perform a range of tasks on election day, including providing information and assistance to voters, sorting and counting ballot papers and implementing COVID-safe practices.
"If you're available to work on Saturday, December 4, and enrolled to vote, you can submit an expression of interest. You don't need previous experience," Mr Morgan said.
Applicants can submit their expression of interest at elections.nsw.gov.au.
