Supt Sullivan knows how greatly impacted businesses have been due to COVID-19 over the last two years.

"When we have other types of disasters like a fire or a flood, one of the first groups we turn to in helping us recover is our business community," he said.

"This time around however whilst we've all been impacted adversely by the pandemic our business community has been significantly impacted.

"Many small businesses have had to actually close."

Supt Sullivan is hoping customers are compliant with the public health orders and when asked to present their vaccination passport.

"Right now, this roadmap to freedom gives us the opportunity to get our businesses back on their feet," he said.

"So it is so important we support our local business not only by going to them but being safe, responsible, respectful and kind.

"The last thing we want is for a major outbreak to occur in our region and then have us all go into lockdown again or have other restrictions placed on us."

After freedoms were granted on Monday to everyone in NSW who is double-vaccinated, Supt Sullivan is calling on the community to rally behind one another and their small businesses as things move to become more normal.

"The last thing we want is to take out our frustrations on the young people who are working in these businesses who are only doing their job," he said.

"I think if we call on that community spirit, we will do well as a local community.

"I'm very pleased when I think of how well our community has responded to vaccination."

More restrictions will be eased for those who are double-vaccinated once NSW reaches 80 per cent full vaccination.
