Normal Father's Day plans were off the table, but in the lead-up to the occasion the city's families were preparing to make Sunday a little special for dad, whether it was a virtual catch-up or a contactless gift.
Dubbo MP Dugald Saunders acknowledged the calendar before providing the daily COVID update.
"I want to start with a big happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, hope you're having as good a day as possible under the circumstances, and if you haven't rung your dad yet, make sure you do it," he said.
"You can Facetime, you can phone call, you just can't have your family gathering as you normally would, but we are looking forward to that in coming months, hopefully, as we get towards that target of 70 to 80 per cent vaccination rates."
